The contemporary-styled Mobilis Collection can be configured into many diverse space solutions and is constructed of an environmentally – friendly material which can be recycled.
Irvine, Calif., March 29, 2007 – Tropitone Furniture Co., a leading manufacturer of fine casual furniture, announced today the debut of a dramatically different style of casual furniture which is manufactured using a polymer molding process to create a sophisticated and contemporary seating collection with rugged durability.
According to Michael Echolds, chief executive officer of the company, Tropitone is the first major manufacture in the casual furniture industry to design a complete modular seating group using a polymer molding process.
“Tropitone has a long-standing tradition of making innovative use of materials to design and manufacture stylish, yet practical, casual furniture. The Mobilis Collection is continuing that tradition. It represents a daring new style for casual furniture that is likely to turn heads with its contemporary sophistication,” Echolds said.
Similar to Tropitone’s new Cabana Club Collection, the Mobilis Collection is designed to be modular and can be mixed and matched to create a broad array of seating combinations to accommodate the diverse social areas of today’s resorts and luxury hotels. Like the Cabana Collection, it is also environmentally-friendly, since in the manufacturing process, very little scrap is generated and the polymer material that the pieces are molded with can be recycled.
Peter Homestead, Tropitone’s vice president of design, said that while the company’s extruded aluminum seating collections are ideal for relaxing in the sun and around the pool, resort and hotels are expanding the services and accommodations offered to guests in the common outdoor entertainment areas of their properties.
“Hoteliers are creating an “outdoor room” experience for guests and focusing on designing elegant and gracious outdoor settings where increasingly more amenities are being offered. Hotels and resorts need casual furniture that creates an inviting and visually interesting outdoor environment with indoor style and comfort, but that also can meet the high-use demands of hospitality settings.
“With the Mobilis Collection,” Homestead said, “we are offering the hospitality market not only a truly unique but also a very functional and durable space solution. The pieces of the collection, which include a center module, a curved corner module, a reverse curve module, a square ottoman, and a curved ottoman, are mobile and can be configured easily into many different seating arrangements. For example, the ottoman can be placed snuggly against the center module to create a chaise, and the curved corner module, when placed next to two center modules, creates a sofa.
“The many practical aspects of Mobilis are paired with the refined simplicity of the smooth, classic shape of the collection’s pieces with their rounded corners. An embossed pattern throughout the frame that resembles tall reeds of wild grass provides a subtle embellishment to the collection’s overall look,”
The Mobilis Collection’s six pieces include a side table and are available in black, white and walnut brown. The polymer resin with which they are molded is weather resistant and is protected from ultraviolet light to prevent fading. Its cushions, which snap onto the molded frame, are slender, soft and constructed of a commercial-quality foam that drains easily and dries quickly. The collection requires minimum effort to maintain and can be cleaned with readily available cleaning products and water.
Tropitone is debuting the Mobilis Collection in booth #4203 at the HD 2007 Expo and Conference to be held May 10 – 12 at the Sands Expo and Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
