Tropitone Debuts Ovation Ez Span™ for the Hospitality Market
Irvine, Calif., May 10, 2007 – Tropitone Furniture Co., a leading manufacturer of fine casual furniture, announced today that it is launching the Ovation EZ Span™ Collection as a contemporary and upscale alternative to traditional strap furniture for resorts and luxury hotels.
According to Michael Echolds, Tropitone’s chief executive officer, the high-use environments of hotels and resorts require that outdoor seating be functional and easy to maintain. Yet it also needs to be aesthetically appealing for use in the casual but sophisticated gathering areas where guests dine alfresco or socialize in chic outdoor nightclubs.

Large oval castings at both the front and back of the wide and slightly crowned-shaped arms of the chair, in addition to an extra wide stretcher on the back of the chair, give the collection exceptional durability as well as lots of style,” Echolds said.
According to John Mattson, Tropitone’s director of contract sales, traditional vinyl strap seating has been a long-standing favorite in the hospitality market, particularly for poolside areas, primarily because it is attractive, comfortable, durable and easy to maintain. However, since Tropitone first introduced the EZ Span™ seating system 10 years ago, it has been the choice of many designers for leading resorts in such locations as Las Vegas, the Bahamas and Palm Beach.
“While Tropitone’s traditional 2-inch vinyl strap seating collections continue to be popular in the marketplace, Tropitone’s Ovation EZ Span™ Collection offers a high-style yet rugged alternative that is easier to maintain and repair when necessary.
“A patented assembly system enables easy replacement of the EZ Span™ seating surface, and the 4-inch molded strap segments are made with a proprietary compound – instead of vinyl—to resist stretching with fluctuating temperatures,” Mattson said.
The Ovation EZ Span™ Collection includes a dining chair, stationary bar stool, sand chair, and chaise lounge. It is offered in six colors including: snow white, parchment, light brown, royal blue, forest green and jade. Tropitone also offers an Ovation Sling Collection as well as an Ovation Cushion Collection.
“By offering Ovation in three different seating collections, designers have the option, for example, of selecting the EZ Span Collection for relaxing in the sun around the pool, the Ovation Sling Collection for dining areas, and the Ovation Cushion Collection for lounging in private cabanas,” Mattson said.
Tropitone is debuting the Ovation EZ Span™ Collection in booth #4203 at the HD 2007 Expo and Conference to be held May 10 – 12 at the Sands Expo and Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
